Phoenix (Re)Born

The Story of, “Phoenix (RE)Born”

I could write a book on my experiences that have forced me into facing this choice over and over again....and someday I will. But for now, this painting will serve as my own reminder that I have a choice when I am at my breaking point.

I can become a victim of the fire, and let it engulf me and kill me slowly until I am ash.Or, I can ignite myself,  become the raging heat, and breathe life into it until I am an unstoppable force.

I have grown numb to the heat of the flames that surround me on a daily basis, and I welcome the gut-wrenching pain and heartache of being forced to morph when I feel like I am about to break. I am replaced with better patience, ability, focus, passion, tolerance, adaptability, and love.

And in That Moment of choosing this mentality, a Phoenix was (Re)born.”

This is my personal favorite interpretation of a Phoenix:

…“It is then reborn from the ashes, to start a new, long life. After death, it rises gloriously from the ashes and flies away.

When it feels its end approaching, it builds a nest with the finest aromatic woods, sets it on fire, and is consumed by the flames. From the pile of ashes, a new Phoenix arises, young and powerful. Continually morphing and remorphing, the phoenix represents the idea that the end is only the beginning.

The Phoenix is also an alchemical symbol. It represents the changes during chemical reactions and progression through colors, properties of matter.”

Every day, we experience battles, hardship, and turmoil. Some days it’s easier to handle and manage….and some days, it can feel absolutely devastating and nearly impossible to cope with.

But as humans, we have the power of making a choice of how we react and use our mindsets. We can be victims and allow life to consume us in the flames until we have nothing left….to let life break us.

Or, we can choose our own power over life’s unavoidable circumstances….to own and embrace change, while we continue to adapt and grow into our highest evolutions….to live life, and to use our breakdowns as tools to break through to become our most powerful selves.

I hope this serves you as a reminder that every through the hottest fires, we will create something even more powerful with ourselves.
